Southeast Sulawesi : Island of surprises
Judyth Gregory-Smith, the author, taught for several years in Papua New Guinea, Peninsula Malaysia and Sarawak. In Australia, she is a journalist, writing for in-flight, 4 WD, camping and travel magazines. In Indonesia, as guest of the Indonesian Government, Judyth writes eco-cultural travel books. So far, she has taken her readers on adventures in 'Sulawesi: Ujung Pandang to Kendari' (in press) and Southeast Sulawesi-Islands of Surprises. She is currently writing a guide to Jambi in Sumatra.
Richard Gregory-Smith, the photo- grapher, was educated at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst and Royal Military College of Science, Shrivenham. He served as a soldier in many parts of the world and, later, as an administrator of Australia's overseas aid. Since 1991 he has devoted his time to photography and ornithology and has written a number of books and papers on the birds of Southeast Asia and Australia.
Judyth and Richard have lived in Papua New Guinea and Malaysia and now live in Queensland, Australia. They travel four months of the year: two on expeditions within Australia and two exploring overseas.
